Are You As Happy As He Is?
Wisdom is knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity (to perceive keenly), discernment (to grasp and comprehend what is obscure), or insight (The capacity to discern the true nature of a situation). Beyond simply knowing or understanding what options are available, "Wisdom" provides the ability to differentiate between them and choose the one that is best.
It is no longer enough to be smart -- all the technological tools in the world add meaning and value only if they enhance our core values, the deepest part of our heart. Acquiring knowledge is no guarantee of practical, useful application. Wisdom implies a mature integration of appropriate knowledge, a seasoned ability to filter the inessential from the essential. Doc Childre and Deborah Rozman
I always believe that ultimately, if people are paying attention, then we get good government and good leadership. And when we get lazy, as a democracy and civically start taking shortcuts, then it results in bad government and politics.President Barack Obama
I must interject here; President Obama opened himself up for harsh criticism when he said this. WE, I am paying attention and what I see and hear is bad politics and government. We have not been lazy and that is why there is a drop in the polls where our Leaders popularity has fallen. We are using our ‘democracy’ and ‘civic rights’ to say, ‘We are not happy; We are discouraged with the Health Care Initiative, We are troubled and pained with our soldiers being killed in Afghanistan, we are disparaged with the outrageous deficit, with the Government buying up Private Corporations, with the buy outs of the ‘big guys’ who are not essential while the farmers who produce our food who are essential, are cut off from water and need funding to continue to grow the crops to fill our refrigerators and pantries. We are dismayed by the cuts to education. We are distressed with the desire to make illegal aliens all legal, to pay their health care, wages etc… We have our own citizens who need this care and jobs, remember we have a deficit already! We can not afford to pay for illegal aliens and all of their needs. Our United States Citizens, the ones who voted for President Obama, are in need! The illegal aliens need to be sent back to their own countries. It is their countries responsibilities to support them, not ours! Where is the wisdom in all of this? This is bad government and careless politics being ushered in by an inadequate administration and a President that is dangerous to the solidity of the United States and the American people.
It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err. Mohandas K. Gandhi
We learn wisdom from failure much more than from success. We often discover what will do, by finding out what will not do; and probably he who never made a mistake never made a discovery. Samuel Smiles
I believe if the President were to look at Mohandas K. Gandhi and Samuel Smiles quotes he could learn something from them! He needs to realize that he has failed in his attempts at Health Care Reform. He needs to stop and ask the American people what they want. He needs to listen to what we say. I believe it then needs to be put to a vote by the American people. If it passes the Senate the way it is now, I am afraid he will have a civil up rise on his hands.
It was once said that the moral test of Government is how that Government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped. Hubert H. Humphrey
The way the Health Care Bill reads now, it is dangerous. It is certainly unfair to the elderly and handicapped. The President, his family, the Senate and Congress are able to opt out of it and keep their own wonderful insurance policies. We, peons are not! We must be insured or we will be fined! The government’s way or punishment: What does that sound like to you? It rings a bell of total control, which equals communism to me!
It is characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things. Henry David Thoreau
This do it my way or else you’ll be sorry does seem like a desperate attempt to force something the President knows we don’t want on us, doesn’t it?
If you once forfeit the confidence of your fellow citizens, you can never regain their respect and esteem. It is true that you may fool all of the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all of the time; but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln, now there was a wise man! If the President does not make some changes to his policies and soon, there will be no way back for him. His approval rating continues a downhill spiral. It is very disheartening that so many voters were fooled by the campaign promises that sounded so good.
Strategic planning is worthless -- unless there is first a strategic vision. John Naisbitt
I do not know what has happened to what sounded like a strategic vision for the American people when Barack H. Obama was campaigning for President of the United States Of America, but it appears that now that he is President Barack H.Obama, his vision for Americans has changed to simplistic planning. I do not believe his plans will benefit the American people as much as it will the Illegal Aliens.
It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and say the opposite. Sam Levenson
President Obama’s comment to French television on June 1 that the United States is “one of the largest Muslim countries in the world" is not only a mathematical fallacy but a slap in the face to the United States as a Christian Nation. The CIA Factbook estimates America’s Muslim population at 0.6 percent, or about 1.8 million, which puts it in 58th place among nations’ total Muslim populations. Something else that I must address is the President of the United States bowing to the waist of the king of Saudi Arabia, and then declaring that this (the United States) is not a Christian Nation. I certainly wish the founding fathers were here to see and hear him say that. You will find references to God in all of our Historical Documents from the Constitution to the Bill of Rights and In God we Trust is printed on our money! I believe our founding fathers would challenge him on that. God is intertwined in our Government. The buildings and the literature have references and icons all over the place. President Obama may have been raised Muslim and pretending to be Christian, but if he thinks he will turn this Nation into a Muslim Nation, he can think again! Christian’s have a vote and believe me, he won’t be voted back into office for a second term!
The only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well enough informed to maintain its sovereign control over the government. Franklin Delano Roosevelt
As citizens of the United States we need to do exactly what Franklin D. Roosevelt was talking about here. We need to stay informed and make sure that we enforce our rights as citizens. We must make our government leaders listen to what we want. The government is supposed to be for the people by the people! If we do not maintain control over the government and what it does, we are going to end up in serious trouble!
Make sure you make yourself heard: WRITE YOUR GOVERNMENT LEADERS
Make sure that you make yourself heard: VOTE
Make sure that you make yourself heard: SIGN PETITIONS
Make sure that you make yourself heard: PROTEST
Do whatever you can, just make sure that you don’t just sit around and complain and make sure what ever you do, is LEGAL!
The citizen can bring our political and governmental institutions back to life, make them responsive and accountable, and keep them honest. No one else can. John Gardner
The ballot is stronger than the bullet. Abraham Lincoln
I know that I will not be voting for him if he is unintelligent enough to run for a second term!

Give this woman a hand she know how to tell the truth! Amen sister!
This is a great article. I love the quotes and the pictures! You show yourself wise and even better—to know wisdom when you see it. I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Bravo!
There are certain areas in the U.S.where muslims, both black and otherwise have concentrated. The Detoit Area is one.Although I couldn't tell you how many there are,it is considerable.
The economy is weak and will get even weaker if we don't start producing more than we are consuming.
or consuming less than we are producing.
I loved this post and am happy to find another concerned Californian. Turns out, we are not all liberal out here on the left coast, as my right coast friends like to assume. You spoke to two issues that are top of mind for me too; 1] wisdom vs. knowledge, and 2] the current declining state of our country.
Anyway, I enjoyed your well thought out, well researched hub and look forward to reading more.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious, Kebennett. Seriously, thanks, not being sarcastic here.
Didn't know they let Conservatives in Cali speak! Great hub!
Wisdon is not gained at school or by adoring crowds. It comes from a wanting to understand and to serious study, contemplation and being open to learning from lifes experiences.
Very well said, and voted up accordingly. Your title in and of itself may be an "oxymoron", but obviously you possess an intellect worthy of respect. Thank you for posting.
Please pass this around. Sign petition on whitehouse.gov to repeal Obamacare. !!!!

Wonderful, powerful and wise Hub. Sadly, I have seen no proof that the President is listening. He appears to hear only what he wants to hear.
